Hej friends!
There is something to celebrate! Because the wonderful Annette from Augensterns Welt is hosting her
🎉 10 years of blog birthday celebration! 🎉
10 years!! My Irma just turned nine and often thinks she understands the world better than I do. Well, she’s probably right far too often, but that’s not the point. It’s about the fact that 10 years is a really long time, and it’s truly remarkable that our Annette has been delighting the world with her creative ideas and creations ever since.
For her birthday party, the lovely lady also came up with a heartfelt campaign to bring the sewing blog world a little closer together.
Maritime fabric card exchange
was the theme, and each of the 26 participants was assigned a secret gift exchange partner. I was allowed to give Bianca from Selbst-die-Frau a fabric card, but Bianca’s package hasn’t even arrived yet! According to the package tracking system from the reliable Post AG 😤, the package is at least already lingering somewhere in the destination country. Delivery date unknown.
But Bianca said I could still show you what was in it today; she was happy anyway.
That’s why I’m showing you my fabric card for dear Bianca.
Well, I overlooked the “maritime” part. The sea is foreign to us Viennese, so my brain apparently switched off immediately when I heard the word 🤪

But I’ll just show you the card. Bianca can figure out what else is hidden in the package. Hopefully, her package will arrive soon!
My attempt to sew a greeting onto the card with my sewing machine was a complete failure. So I scribbled the greeting on paper instead. It’s still just as sweet.
It’s been years since I’ve appliquéd a picture on a sewing machine and it was so much fun!
It’s simply amazing to see what can come from a simple sketch. Sure, it’s not Picasso, but I think the fact that it’s made of fabric makes it look much prettier.

Before I get to my “maritime” fabric card, here’s the link for the appliqué template for “Anneli on the Swing.” If you’d like, you can download the pattern for €0. 💙
When Annette invited me to participate in her fabric swap, I was thrilled. I’ve known her since I started my blog ..und dann kam irma and started sewing, and we’ve done some wonderful things together. But the fact that love thought of me after my years-long break from blogging made me almost a little sentimental, and of course I couldn’t say no!
I was especially happy about my secret gift! Can you guess who it was? Yes, it was Annette herself, and she gave me a very special gift! She sent me a little bit of sea breeze to Vienna! 🌬 🌊

Isn’t she adorable!!?? 💙
The fabric card and its motif simply make me happy and awaken a deep longing for vacation in me!
I never imagined that you could get to know and like people virtually, and that these people could make you happy without ever meeting them in person. But it’s true. I’ve experienced this in my years as an active sewing blogger, and I think it’s fantastic that Annette has never lost her creative spark and, with her warm personality, inspires others to be creative together. It’s much more enjoyable that way, and it’s a wonderful way to spread more love online. ❤️
The package also contained delicious tea, delicious chocolate, and a card with coastal birds on it! I think they’re so pretty, so I’ll show you a little more detail.
Thank you, dear Annette, for your wonderful fabric card swap secret gift! You brought me so much joy with it! 💙
Now I’ll send you over to Annette’s post. There you can also admire the other fabric cards and browse her stuff a bit.
Cheers! 💙
